How to Rebuild Your Smile More Easily Using Porcelain Veneers

Posted on: 23 January 2019

These days, there are fewer reasons for you to be self-conscious about your smile. After all, you can improve the appearance of your teeth significantly by choosing from a variety of different options available at your nearby cosmetic dentist. For example, you may be able to take advantage of porcelain veneers that can be fitted on top of your existing teeth following some small alterations. Due to the latest technology, these may be even easier to deal with than before, so why should you ask your dentist about these options as you seek to revolutionise your appearance?

Less Preparation

As you may know, porcelain veneers are added to the top of existing teeth, and they appear to be just as authentic as the real thing. While they have been around for some time now, a different technique has emerged that may enable you to take advantage of what is known as a 'no prep' approach.

Old Versus New

In the conventional approach, the dentist may need to do a certain amount of preparation work beneath the gum line to ensure that the veneers fit properly and are comfortable once they're introduced. Much of this work is done under local anaesthetic, and it might take a little while to ensure that everything is just right before moving ahead. Today, however, it may be possible to use a veneer that simply conforms to the shape of the tooth underneath it and sits above the gum line. This may require less preparation work, especially as the dentist may not need to deal with the structure of the tooth underneath the gum.

Are You a Candidate?

Some people find that their teeth have worn down over time because they grind them together at night without knowing. Others may have been born with teeth that were somewhat misaligned or misshapen. In either case, these people are great candidates for the porcelain veneer.

Over to You

You may have been holding back from this type of work because you were not sure of your options, or maybe you thought that it would be very invasive. As you can see, there are a number of new options to consider, and every reason for you to push ahead with your plans to visit the dentist. The sooner that you book an appointment, the sooner you will be able to smile freely and proudly, not feeling the need to cover your mouth as you do so.
